If You’re Not First, You’re Last (Then Second Place is The Penultimate) Lyrics by Aerosol Airplanes

ME, ME

2019

Verse 1:
Its not a race to the finish; its about the journey there
Once you reach that line the clouds disappear
And you either go with them or you don’t
Chorus:
I'm going for gold but I’ll settle with silver
I’ll try my best but only a sliver
Just to place penultimate
One place to desecrate my name
Verse 2:
On one hand I’m always the best
On the other lay me to rest
And it won’t work
Because I’m worthless
Chorus:
Im going for gold but I’ll settle with silver
I’ll try my best but only a sliver
Just to place penultimate
One place to desecrate my name
One place to desecrate my name
Bridge:
Don’t stop staring at me
I’m staring back at you
Your eyes are the sun
I’m staring back at you
I am but a glowing moon
And the sun’s staring back at you
Chorus:
Im going for gold but I’ll settle with silver
I’ll try my best but only a sliver
Just to place penultimate
One place to desecrate my name
One place to desecrate my name
One place to desecrate your grave
Outro:
Why do we even bother with love
For once it dies so does the other
But not of natural causes but of pain
True love is too old to feel again
And its a feeling I might never know
But I’ll take this chance to make a new person
And grow
So I’ll do the work and earn my way
As once have said
All of me is wishing for you to stay
