Better as Friends Lyrics by Alic Walls

FLOWER CHiLD

2017

[Verse 1:]
Girl eight years is a long time
I understand why it's called a crush (called a crush)
I changed ya name in my contacts to Milwaukee
'Cause you always keep it a buck
And I'm not gon' lie, it sucks
'Cause my one and one equal me and you
Girl I wish I knew your feelings through and through
Baby, I'm a fool
I don't wanna mess it all up
Kinda wanna risk it all, bruh
Oh-I-oh-I, that's the sound my heart makes when we touch, yuh
Blink once for a Summer fling (Summer fling)
Blink twice for the real thing (real thing)
I guess you think this is a game
Apparently, you can't take me seriously, yuh
Girl you gotta come out of hiding (hiding)
'Cause I been got tired of trying
My Grandma was way off, way up
But I got a message to fly in
But then again ya kinda rude
Inconsistency is terrible, too
Recently I dropped those feelings for you
I'm thinking
That we work just better as friends
(Chorus)
Friends, friends
(oh yeah, oh yeah)
We just work better as friends (better as friends)
I had to drop those pre-historic feelings
'Cause we just work better as friends
(better as friends)
Save us the disappointment (oh yeah)
You only text back on appointment
My heart cannot take it
We're better as friends
Ohhhh
We (we)
We (we)
Yeah
We just work better as friends (we just work better as friends)
Let's save us both the disappointment
You only text back on appointment
Yeah, we just work better as
[Verse 2:]
Nine-one-one, emergency
Come get the kid, 'cause I done fell hard
Sixth grade singing Braid My Hair
Girl you had the keys to my heart
Big deal, big deal
Since the big wheel, I done had my heart guarded
Ya salsa danced right into my life
I swear you got me started, aw yeah
Can't lie, I'm loving the vibe
But I know that we'll never work
And of course I know you love God
I know you're familiar with church
I don't wanna mess it all up
I kinda wanna risk it all, though
For me to get you will be winning the lotto
But I know that we just work better as friends
(Chorus)
I changed your name to mariachi
For a while you had the hot seat
But I realized that we just work better as
Friends
I can't take the disappointment
You only text back on appointment
We just
We just
We just work better as friends
[Bridge]
On FaceTime you got me on pause
That's a mean swerve, that's a curveball
I'm flying high, you can't nest me
I ain't got time no time for no birds, y'all
(???) is use at the word
Ya (?) I think this could work
Girl I would drop everybody
Clean myself up like I'm going to church
But baby we started as friends
And that's just how we're gonna end
But I got no problem with that
I just need for you to text me back
I-hi-hi
Baby, just let me be there
I will listen, be ya ear
Babygirl, I'll be your shoulder
Girl I'm skinny, but a boulder
Wake up (wake up)
(wake up)
Yeah, we'll be better as friends
Yeah
Yeah, we'll just be--
