Island Girl Lyrics by Alison Hinds

Soca Queen

2007

[Verse 1]
Heaven help me in this state I’m in
My heart been stolen by a thief in the night
Like a hurricane he came to me
Swept me off my feet, now I’m falling from the sky
[Pre-Chorus 1]
I know loving him is the reason why
The reason why I never breathe or laugh or cry
Can’t get over what he’s done to me
Kisses set me free and sentenced me to life
[Chorus]
Oh, I was just an island girl
Came into my world and tore it all apart
I would get down on my knees
Beg the angels please to mend this broken heart
Oh, help me help me
[Verse 2]
Oh how I long to feel those arms again
On my tender skin in the heated sunlight
All I have are precious memories
They keep haunting me to once more come alive
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I know loving him is the reason why
The reason why I just can’t see another guy
And he haffi know it’s killing me
The kiss that set me free and sentenced me to life
[Chorus]
Oh I was just an island girl
You came into my world and tore it all apart
I would get down on my knees
Beg the angels please to mend this broken heart
Oh, mend this broken heart
Oh, mend this broken heart
[Bridge]
Don’t let the sun go down on this poor soul of mine
Don’t walk away and leave me stranded
Eternally I crave your love, so divine
I can’t resist your kiss
[Chorus]
Oh I was just an island girl
Came into my world and tore it all apart
I would get down on my knees
Beg the angels please, please
I was just an island girl
You came into my world and tore it all apart
I would get down on my knees
Beg the angels please
Mend this broken heart
