My idols once were dreamers then some believed them/
Helped them in becoming teachers and public speakers/
All told once they were underachievers/

At uni learning that the music industry is changing/

And wishing for a minute I could kick it with the majors/
Those I look up to were once in my position/
Listening to their influences right where I am sitting/
And it’s in this very spot where rhymes were written/
That changed the lives of guys like me and I’ll continue/
Writing lyrics to carry on their lives’ tradition/
With my mind racing at a million miles a minute/
Reciting the lines on stage with a mic, a spitting/
Image of the guys I admire and tried to mimic

But scared that I wasn’t ready to be told what it means/
Everything was there and now that I’m older, I see/
I already got my foot in the door with a hold on the beat/
Dropped my demo CD in the ONETWO letterbox/
Hoping all my dreams would come true, fingers crossed/
Recognition leaves some dudes better off/
I’m still on the 680 bus route penning songs/
Mastering a craft that’s passed through generations/
Blasted in cars and parks with dedication/
Truth be told, it’s not hard to resonate with/
Someone else who speaks from the heart with pen and paper
