Marathon Runner Lyrics by Aural Exciters

Going Places: The August Darnell Years 1974-1983 - Kid Creole

1979

[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
[Verse 1]
He gets up in the morning
And I don’t know where he’s gone
All I know he’s runnin’ and runnin’ and runnin’
And off somewhere
[Verse 2]
He gets up in the morning
Even before the sun can rise
And without even yawning
He’s in stride, he strides
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and hе sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runnеr and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
[Verse 3]
Even when the raindrops are falling
He’ll be jogging around the reservoir
A chance for glory is finally calling
Be a star, here’s your chance, be a star
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (marathon runner)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (marathon runner)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Go man go
[Chant]
On you marks, get ready, get set and go man go
On you marks, get ready, get set and go man go
On you marks, get ready, get set and go man go
On you marks, get ready, get set and go man go
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
[Verse 4]
He awaits that challenging moment
When he faces 26 miles
Though he knows his youth is spent
He still tries, well he tries and he tries
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Oooh, marathon runner
Go man go
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Aw shit (go man go)
You can win, you can win (go man go)
26 miles, keep on, keep on
Go man go
Go man go
Go man go
Go man go
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Gotta keep it on, gotta keep it on (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Gotta keep it on, gotta keep it on (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
See you later
[Verse 5]
Dressed in only a sweatsuit and sneakers
Thousands have the same design
Some are stronger and some are weaker
Some will die, only the strong survive
Go man go
Go man go
Go man go
Go man go
[Chorus]
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
He’s a runner and he sure gets around (go man go)
Go man go
