If we ask for a loaf, he won't give us a stone
But what if what we thought was a loaf though, was really a stone
So we were praying for a stone but then He gave us a loaf
But then we moan and we groan, 'cause we didn't get the stone, oh
He knows what I need, even before I go ask Him
And Jesus intercedes on my behalf with much passion
And what if He says, "No," it means yes for something else
Am I willing to still go, or am I stuck all about self?
And what if He says “No,” it's only for my protection?
'Cause He wants me to grow, and refocus my attention
And my affections upon the giver and not just the gift
That's idolatry, I'm guilty I gotta admit
When I be prayin', I be demanding a great day
Sometimes in His purpose and plan, He lets the pain stay
If I don't understand, will I start to naysay?
If I knew what He knew, I'd be answering the same way!
Even when God does delay and is distant
I still know that it is true, His grace is sufficient
If I had my way I'd be arranging it different
But gotta trust God, though, in His way there is wisdom
