Our fugitive stumbles upon a river
The sound of water skating over stones and branches brings about a much-needed focus
He places his hand in the water to feel the life of the river
With eyes shut, mouth open, and head tilted toward the heavens
The laughter of children is faintly detected
He now sees himself as a child floating in the river
Imploring his ten-year old friends to jump in
The leap into the water is the children's last hurrah
Before the orange of the summer sunset let's them know that it's time for supper
Suddenly the voice of a preacher fades in reciting Matthew Chapter 3, Verse 11
"I baptize you with the water repentance
But he who is coming after me is mightier than I
Whose sandals I am not worthy to carry
He will baptize you with the holy spirit and fire"
Our fugitive notices his mother to the right dressed in white
Holding her Bible and displaying a warm look of pride
She is pleased to have set her son on a pather of love and acceptance of Christ
Our fugitive snatches his hand from the river
The water knows him oh too well
He then realizes that this waterway is the river with the big bend
The great Tennessee River
He know this river will lead him to his hometown of Hixon
Hixon is where his son lives
1000 butterflies begin to flutter their wings
