Pretend Lyrics by Benny Universe

Bittersweet Luxury

2024

Ok ok
Here’s the secret to being happy
Just pretend you are happy and eventually you’ll forget you’re pretending
Maybe you’re right, just need to stop complaining and work harder
Everyone else is doing it, why am I so special?
Maybe i’m just a fool who doesn’t know what I should get
Maybe i’m just a fool who doesn’t know when i’m spent
Surely didn’t know that it would be so bittersweet
Surely didn’t know that it would lead to luxury
I don’t really know if I should be here
Just being honest
I don’t really know if I can hear clear
All this change that i’m rocking
In my pink prada wallet
With not a cent to my name
Addicted to luxuries
I lock in a frame
In my pink wonderland
I just charge to the game
I don’t like to play
It’s lame
Dress me up like your favorite barbie doll
I am not a 10 out of a 10 or a Ken
But we can play pretend, again and again
And again and again and again and again
I’m your best kept secret
Show me to the world
Let go of that feeling
Please don’t hold me like a pearl
Maybe i’m just a fool who doesn’t know what I should get
Maybe i’m just a fool who doesn’t know when i’m spent
Surely didn’t know that it would be so bittersweet
Surely didn’t know that it would lead to luxury
Can I ask you something?
Would that really have made you happy?
Yea I mean for a little bit, but then
Probably?
So what does it matter?
But there has to be more
Hey Benny, you ok?
