Inferno
A large fire that is dangerously out of control
I remember the first time I felt an inferno
Anger swelled through my body until I couldn’t think
My stepmother had told me I was grounded
I had taken all the pepperonis off of our pizza after everyone was done
Ate them all one by one
And so I was hounded by her until finally,
I couldn’t take it anymore
I told her I hated her
The second time was worse
My father had remarried
The woman was a real…something
She acted like she never knew what it was like to starve
And that there was no way the last mother would carve
My skin off my bones with how little she let me eat
I told myself I would never let that inferno happen
Said if it did I would stop myself from ever laughing
Or crying
Or feeling
For the sake of myself and others.
Inferno

I will not let myself get out of control.
