My Opportunity Lyrics by Big Son (Jonas Gott)

A New Era

2019

(Chorus)
We all have motivation
And we all have inspiration
For me it was to be a leader
For the whole nation
But I ain't doing politics
I hate the conversation
But I just want to be heard
On the radio station
(Verse 1)
This beat gives me so many vibes
I can't even lie
It's the stuff I listen to
When I go for a ride
Every Saturday in the
Evening or night
Whether it's during the day
Or under the street lights
But please don't judge me
It helps me relax
Because the very next day
I push myself to the max
I ride around my town
I go to all sorts of places
It's the journey that I take
Normally on a weekly basis
I'll be listening to music
Blast it out of my speaker
Just hoping that one day
I'll be an L.A. Leaker
See this isn't a song
It's an opportunity
For me to be accepted
In the rap community
And just like survivor
I'm a need immunity
Cause usually people hate on you
So quick and brutally
That's why so many rappers
Have to hire security
Because people will make assumptions
Based on me musically
But I stick to who I am
Yeah I stay true to me
And it's cause of my maturity
I can ignore the scrutiny
So please don't judge me
By my cover
My religion, race, gender or my color
(Chorus)
We all have motivation
And we all have inspiration
For me it was to be a leader
For the whole nation
But I ain't doing politics
I hate the conversation
But I just want to be heard
On the radio station
(Verse 2)
Let me take you to a destination
Way back when
I was talking bout my future
With my mate name Ben
We talked about what we wanna be
When we grow up
Hoping that one day we would both blow up
He wants to be a actor
And I wanna be a rapper
We were ready to flip the page
And start a whole new chapter
I've got versatility
I can go slow or fast
Thankful for what has happened
Never forget the past
All the times that I would hustle
And still come last
Trying to become a legend
Like the group OutKast
I was raised in a town
Known for its diversity
Never really had to worry
About the adversity
Just worked hard at school
To go to university
But with that being said
There was no certainty
That's why I had a back up plan
In case of emergency
And I'm always on my toes
I move with some urgency
I hate all the drama, gossip and controversy
But I still aim to do
Everything perfectly
And my motivation comes
From me internally
And the haters and doubters
Who think I'll take it personally
(Chorus)
We all have motivation
And we all have inspiration
For me it was to be a leader
For the whole nation
But I ain't doing politics
I hate the conversation
But I just want to be heard
On the radio station
(Verse 3)
I'm so very thankful
I come from humble beginnings
The day I get cocky
Is the day I stop winning
So I always push myself
Right through to the final inning
But I like things this way
It's my style of living
Social media's a war zone
And it's all on the phone
It ain't face to face
You can't interpret the tone
You can laugh all you want
But I'm just being realistic
Mental health is getting bigger
Go and check the statistics
It ain't all that bad
It helps me with self promotion
I enjoy every step
But I'm still running through the motions
Hip-hops my new love
My commitment and devotion
With everything I say
From the heart and raw emotion
I'm representing myself
My family and my city
Modelling my pathway to success
From Diddy and Biggie
I'm looking forward to the day
I can say I went number one
The journey's only started
Yeah I'm far from done
