Convertible in the Rain Lyrics by Brynn Cartelli

OUT OF THE BLUE (EXTENDED)

2022

[Verse 1]
We were drivin' on the highway after a long day at the beach
The sky looked pretty clear, so you took the top off of the jeep
And we sang all the words to our favorite songs from the seventies
Serenadin' through the decades and the breeze
And up ahead, the sky turned red, and then it fades to gray
We can't protect, our clothes got wet out in the pouring rain
The windshield wipers werе no help at all, but they turned on anyway
You smilеd at me and you said, "It's a perfect day"
[Pre-Chorus]
I thought we wouldn't make it
We tried to wait it out
Under the gas station
We parked, then we made out
For a couple minutes
Then we went back on our route
[Chorus]
Sometimes you gotta drive
A convertible in the rain
Move through the night
Never pressin' down on the brakes
If we were to die
I wouldn't mind goin' this way (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah)
'Cause I love you in the chaos
And I don't care if we're safe
Drivin' a convertible in the rain
[Verse 2]
Even though you tried, you couldn't quite keep your hands at ten and two
I can't deny, I never tried to keep mine off of you
We've been together for almost two years, but tonight, it feels brand new
Maybe it's the t-shirt, how the rain glues it to you
[Pre-Chorus]
I thought we wouldn't make it
We tried to wait it out
Under the gas station
We parked, then we made out
For a couple minutes
Then we went back on our route
[Chorus]
Sometimes you gotta drive
A convertible in the rain
Move through the night
Never pressin' down on the brakes
If we were to die
I wouldn't mind goin' this way (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah)
'Cause I love you in the chaos
And I don't care if we're safe
[Bridge]
We're breezin' past the streetlights as if there's a storm the chase
And I can recognize your laugh without lookin' at your face
And we're never goin' back to where we were just yesterday
We can't recreate this feeling every day
[Chorus]
Sometimes you gotta drive
A convertible in the rain
Move through the night
Never pressin' down on the brakes
If we were to die
I wouldn't mind goin' this way (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah)
'Cause I love you in the chaos
And I don't care if we're safe
Drivin' a convertible in the rain
[Post-Chorus]
(Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
(Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh)
