Icarus Lyrics by Carson Shmyr

Icarus - single

2023

[Verse 1]
One day you slipped into
A non-chromatic state of being
Paled yourself and settled for
A grim and ugly world
You felt impressed by simple gestures
Though it hurt, you never left her
'Cause her colors kept your
World from being greyscale
[Pre-Chorus]
'Cause she burnt auburn like the fires
She set ablaze, but I require
An explanation on why you really stayed
[Verse 2]
Instead you bought a backyard castle
And you both played pretend
That shе wasn't sneaking out
At midnight to meet another man
[Chorus]
And you know (and you know)
That you did (that you did)
Everything that you could (еverything that you could)
But she took your wings and ran
[Post-Chorus]
Icarus
I'll catch you as you land
By the sun
[Verse 3]
So you wandered aimlessly around
A world you knew nothing about
Skipped pebbles 'cause you didn't have the will to lift the boulders
And maybe once you're older
You can try again, my friend
But until then, you'll just be a silhouette
[Bridge]
You might be lost, but you
Can find yourself again
[Breakdown]
It's bittersweet—every new beginning
[Chorus]
And you know (and you know)
That you did (that you did)
Everything that you could (everything that you could)
But she took your wings and ran
[Post-Chorus]
Icarus
I'll catch you as you land
By the sun
[Outro]
You gave him flight
Then tore him out of the sky
Why? Great designer, why?
