Process. Lyrics by C’est la key

Superflat

2017

[Simon]
Alright, well I'm-

[Devyn]
Yeah, so the tra-

[Simon]
Yeah I'm ju-

[Devyn]
Did you- Did you um...

[Simon]
Yeah, yeah it was good, it was good, let me, let me get one allowed, I'mma put 'em inside--

[Devyn]
Uh- yeah. Okay. So I mean... So yeah I was just thinking like this sort of like this, minimal type of thing? And really, ooh-- really just cutting down, a lot of the um-- all the, all the noise-- and the sort of special effects--

[Simon] (distant)
This sort of like uh... little... [?]

[Devyn]
Yeah! Yeah, because it's just um... Sort of like the idea of, acoustic instrumentation as a more... uh, truthful... um... likе connection or door- doorway to...

[Simon]
Let me- lеt me bring one milk in

[Devyn]
Okay

[Simon]
Hey!

[Natasha?]
Hi

[Simon]
Alright well we'll go down through the process and [?], get started--

[Devyn]
Okay

[Simon]
Um.. Yeah, I like--

[Devyn]
Did you see, like a lot of um... The maybe, the- the synthetic elements of the original tracks were some kind of an obstruction

[Simon]
And this is like, one of the more open...

[Devyn]
Y-yeah exactly, that I can like, allow myself to- to- get it a bit-

[Simon]
Yeah... I- I- I like it, um... It's definitely a good track, I'm not sure-- hold on, um... We're gonna get started with some, with cheese rolling, and uh... we'll get the coolers ready with sweet potatoes...

[Devyn]
Okay. Do I need to turn the um... The thing on for the... The thing?

[Simon]
No, we won't be- we won't be packing anything. Um...

[Devyn]
Okay

[Simon]
Wanna- get some- we can get the radio going

[Devyn]
Alright. So, d-

[Simon]
You could just weigh that cheese off that rolling right here

[Devyn]
Okay. Yeah I was trying to do that. And- e- uh- chives?

[Simon]
Yeah. Chives, cayenne, plain

[Devyn]
No paprika?

[Simon]
Nah, nah, just- it's the Ritz kind

[Devyn]
Mmk. Uh... yeah so the song! So you li- you liked it?

[Simon]
Yeah I did! I did, I did. It's really beautiful, and I... I'm connecting with the uh, it's very uh... feeling the emotions on it, it's um... I like it, it's like a ballad, it's like, a cool thing. Um...

[Devyn]
But...

[Simon]
Well- I just know that you, you got high standards, you want to really communicate big ideas to people- and from that, alone, it's a good song, on its own, uh- I don't know if um, you're uh... not hearing the things you want to talk about, right there

[Devyn]
Li-- Like the mixing?

[Simon]
No, no I mean-- I-

[Devyn]
Could you hear the words?

[Simon]
I can only catch some of the words so that's part of it, and uh, you know it's like the... the stylized delivery makes it harder to uh, catch everything. But uh... maybe if I relisten to it, it can help a little bit, too, I guess

[Devyn]
So it needs to be... spoon-fed

[Simon]
I'm not saying spoon-fed but it's hard to uh...

[Devyn]
So you're saying it's too, it's too...

[Simon]
If-- there's a certain lack of clarity that makes it hard to just immediately--

[Devyn]
Lack of clarity?

[Simon]
--relate to it

[Devyn]
Jesus Christ...

[Simon]
I- I think you could be uh...

[Devyn]
I don't know what I'm-

[Simon]
Sort of, open ambiguous thing but sort of- the g- I'm, I'm not catching that much of a message cause I'm not hearing that much because of the stylized... delivery

[Devyn]
I never heard you talk about the music, I just don't understand, like- like- like I feel like I don't even have a place right-- right now, nobody wants any art anyway, and not to say I'm the one delivering art, but you don't- if it's like- so-- if I don't understand it, then it's not good. If you don't understand it it's not good, if you don't understand it, it's not-

[Simon]
I'm not telling you I don't think it's good, I'm just telling you what I think of it, which is what you asked me, so uh... and I've heard a lot of your stuff so I think a lot of your stuff is really great, and uh, and just knowing what you want to accomplish... I enjoy- it's a good song

[Devyn]
How do I do that?

[Simon]
Look, I- From my perspective, if I could hear a little bit more of what it means to be you upfront, using words-

[Devyn]
Is it something banal? Is it something mundane? It's the only thing that's accessible... to anybody. It's just like I'm- It's just ambition down the toilet, cause everybody's fucking walking around like, like like like Cedric Lamork! Have you heard that guy? There's people talking 'bout him like he's fucking Shakespeare! You're kidding me, you have to be fucking kidding me! This is what I'm-

[Simon]
Alright let's listen to it! Let's see what it's about

[Radio]
Let's start out listening to one of Cedric's latest hits on the new album; Wake In Fright...
