First Friend Lyrics by Charlie Primuth

0

Tanner, you were my first friend
Then I moved away
I was gone for two years
Now I'm back and here to stay
Our friendship was so fun
Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokemon
Used to play everyday without our shirts in the sun
Used to tell you be strong
When your grandma passed on
I was there at the funeral with you and your mom
That's what best friends are for
Middle school brought new friends
Hard to make time for my best friend
Your parents started to fight, you wanted to take flight
I wasn't there for you then
When did this get so hard?
Your parents saw us split apart
Didn't mean it but I left you alone in the dark
Now that distance feels far
From my porch to your yard
I didn't have the courage to be there, my friend
Then your dad moved away
I cry sometimes when I look back
I want to rewrite our past
If we had some time in a bag
I'd reach in and I hope we both go back
I wanna go back and reach
To the time we were free
Ramona Avenue, me and you were kings of the street
We used to sleep in your treehouse
We don't even speak now
Your family packed it up and moved down south
