Acquired Taste Lyrics by Christian Loftus

Human

2018

[Instrumental]
[Verse 1]
When I was nine, Dad has his bourbon
Said, "A glass every night will put hair on your chest."
With a fire in my eye, said, "Alright, I'm ready."
Well, he laughed, then he sighed, said, "Son, be my guest."
[Chorus 1]
So I took one sip
It barely got past my lips
I had no poker face
That's an acquired taste
[Verse 2]
Now I'm pushing 18, and a girl struck my fancy
So I made her my queen, tried my hand at romance
Saw Dad bring home flowers to the woman he married
So I picked some of ours, asked her to the dance
[Chorus 2]
She said, "I'd love to, darling, just not with you."
My first real heartbreak
That's an acquired taste
[Turn]
[Chorus 3]
Let the girl go
Sip life real slow
There's no need for haste
That's a hard truth to face
In this journey we're in, to fail is to win
You're at a good pace, you'll get the taste
