Success (Lyrical Righteousness) Lyrics by Christopher Bonilla

2015

At first i thought i had it all planned out
Convinced myself i trusted in God from here on out
No one would listen so i had to shout
Could have sworn i sowed a seed and believed it would sprout
And that all my work is something i could count
My Lord ended up taking me another route
One where i had to battle and wrestle
More than a little
Thought once i leave my life and career would explode
Like a hot popcorn kernel
And then i'll be ready to settle
My life changed
And i had set my saddle
Tighten my sandals
Start from scratch like i'm sleeping in a baby cradle
Learned how to really follow Jesus by guarding my heart
And solving the riddles
Turning off the T.V
And unplugging all the cables
But fearing too much
Because i thought it would be too unstable
And that i would be incapable of turning the tables agains the devil
My language was from the streets
So i wish could write like how i speak
Then nothing will have an apostrophe
We are a messed up generation with no love for God
We are apostle free
I wrote and sent a letter for help
But i'm broke
So now i have a postal fee
It was a catastrophe
And so i was overwhelmed with sadness
The pain felt everlasting
The Lord promised me rest
But my arrogance and stupidity made it a big mess
I was alone every day from 5am to 6pm
No one knew that when i woke up and went to sleep
I was really lonely
And yeah i had the girls and the homies
But in the end not one of them stayed the closest
I never sought to better my grades in school
Because trusting in Jesus forced me to never worry
And even though i am a believer
I still feel the devil lurking
Preying and hurrying to get his claws on me
My doubt was big
And my faith was small
And so i had no one to talk to
So i called on the name of The Lord
And signed up for work
Not just a part time on-call
But a full time serving Jesus
Even though i would sometimes fall
But i never let that stop me
Because for His heart i was starving
And for prosperity i was hungry
And for my health i was thirsty
But yes
He satisfied my appetite for
