What About Today? Lyrics by Clare Burt

Starting Here, Starting Now (Original London Cast)

0

[WOMAN 2]
\nThe tears I'm shedding now
\nI hear will dry in time
\nThe fears I'm fearing now
\nI hear will die in time
\nBut while I wait around for tomorrow
\nWatching life drift away
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?
\n
\nI know if I just wait
\nThe sun will shine someday
\nAnd when it does
\nThe weather will be fine someday
\nBut while the skies I search for tomorrow
\nStay that same shade of gray
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?
\n
\n'Til nirvana comes
\nWhat about today?
\n'Til Messiah comes
\nWhat about today?
\n'Til the mountains move
\nAnd oceans part
\nAnd angels sing
\nAnd life can start
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?
\n
\nI can't help wondering
\nIf tomorrow ever comes
\nAnd what's my life been lived for
\nIf it never comes
\nI've heard a lot of toasts to tomorrow
\nBut none of them ever say
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?
\n
\n'Til nirvana comes
\nWhat about today?
\n'Til Messiah comes
\nWhat about today?
\n'Til the mountains move
\nAnd oceans part
\nAnd angels sing
\nAnd life can start
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?
\n
\nI know if I just wait
\nThe sun will shine someday
\nAnd when it does
\nThe weather will be fine someday
\nBut while the skies I search for tomorrow
\nStay that same shade of gray
\nWhat about today?
\nWhat about today?
\nWhat about, yes
\nWhat about today?\n\n
