STORiES FROM CHiLDHOOD (featuring VStylez) Lyrics by COMMi$$ION (rap)

GROWiNG UP

2020

[Intro]
"Go back to your childhood
What were the fascinating things?
What's out there?
What's beyond the stars?
How long does it go on?
And Mama said
It goes on always
And always
And always
A child wonders
It's excited
That there's something
That never ends
Then the child asks about time
How long ago, is long ago?
[Hook: COMMiSSiON]

[Verse 1: COMMiSSiON]
Hot wheels crashing
Mattel mashing
Creepy crawlers lining the floor
Nightmares of Monster Blood
& living dummies
I wanted to be an archeologist
An astronaut
An author
In a way
I’m 1 for 3 with a lyrical twist
Beat weaver
I am one with the writ
I used to have an iguana
Named Speedy Gonzalez
Fed em' cat food till I turned him blue
Defense the dude at the pet store told me to
I was never rude
Just a recluse & soft-spoken
Home semi-broken & still loved
Imagination adults only dream of
Still intact but way back yonder
I used to play actor
Made up movies
In the backyard, I pondered
I got that Ponderosa
For perfect attendance
Honestly, if you not from where I’m from
You wouldn’t get the reference
My childhood intentions
Stolen tech decks from CVS
Metal detectors
Strange mix
Somehow got a fix
Of hip-hop, it was therapeutic
In my room feeling doom
Complex as Rubix
Fuming at god & all of his plots
A youngin, with a lot on his chest
Praying for a way outta this mess
[Hook: COMMiSSiON]

[Verse 2: VStylez]
I used to take my Pop's Schwinn out like it was mine
Grown n****s acted from me, caught me straight from behind
Had to go and tell my father that his bike was gone
Left the meat on the grill, grabbed the heat now it's on
Took a trip throughout the hood in his Caddy Deville
My pops yelling with explicit's, yo we cussing at will
He said what color is his shirt, did you see anything?
Cause this ain't over, we gonna ride till the fat lady sings
Yo, we canvased northwest throughout Schaefer & 6 Mile
Fenkle to Puritan, the west side, that sh**s wild
Spotted him on war cruiser, just to the right
Sped up and caught him off, we got the targeting sight
That's when my G pulled his piece, Yelled freeze Police!
That's my sit you riding on, & I ain't here for no peace
On your stomach, don't be stupid, go ahead and act tough
I hit the glove department, threw my dad his handcuffs
(Ha, ha, ha, ha)
Yo, We was on some real Starsky & Hutch Sh**
Me and my dad threw him his handcuffs
Real Sh** (Ha)
[Hook: COMMiSSiON]
