With Apologies to American Culture: A Short Essay Lyrics by Conradaxx

0

A supermarket is just about the strangest, most unnatural place to ever exist. Every time I walk into one, I think to myself, 'This isn't really part of the real world.' Nothing about it is genuine. The only way to get animal meat is to hunt, yet here it is in neat little packages. Fruit and vegetables grow out of the dirt and we're supposed to go out and gather them, yet here they are in plastic boxes. If you see fruit and you're hungry, you pick it and eat it. That's natural. Instead, we bag it, weigh it, and then pay someone who doesn't even own anything in the store.
Only the smartest and strongest can hunt for meat and gather enough food to stay alive. Anyone who is not intelligent enough or strong enough to do this does not reach an age where reproduction is possible. Darwin called it 'Reproductive Success.' That is the natural order of things. That is how the world has worked since the first lifeforms arose out of colliding amino acids or whatever. These fundamental truths responsible for intelligent life to exist no longer exist, yet here we are. This change is a recent occurrence, given the long history of the earth. We humans have proved Darwin wrong using nothing but stupidity and compassion; oddly enough, the two seem to go hand in hand.
Take a look around you next time your in a Walmart Superstore.
I am not a pessimist. What passes as an acceptable intelligence level in a human being amazes me.
I am not arrogant. But when I enter the arena of the general public, I can't help but see an alarming amount of human beings that should have died early in life.
I'm not insensitive. Nature knows what is best and nature wants these people to die.
I am not an asshole.
Shit, just look at the Spartans. They are one of the only societies in history to take part in natural selection. Discarding they called it. Throw a newborn baby out for the wolves because the poor bastard is doomed anyway.
I'm not twisted.
It's unfortunate that it has to be this way, but what I'm writing is the truth. I don't need to apologize for stating a truth. If those with inferior intelligence don't die before they can reproduce, we humans take a course that is artificial and anything but genuine.
I keep feeling the need to apologize.
We risk so much through progress. But what would be the alternative? Empathy is our most endearing and redeeming quality. It is also our most misguided, illogical, and self-destructive quality. Slowly, we are dying. We have initiated the self-destruct sequence already.
I am not insane. I know this is true. I'm sorry. We are doomed.
Let's not dwell on it though. I'll live out this life paying homage to the corporate gods that rule our existence. Feel free to live out your idiotic life as well. I'm not going to stop you. I have too much empathy. I am committed to self-destruction like the rest of us, so how could I stop you?
Let the countdown commence. I hope that I'm wrong and by hoping that I'm wrong I am hoping that I'm insane.
Paradoxes should not logically exist. Paradoxes are everywhere. Especially now.
I am insane. Let's hope so.
