While sighing…I silently said a prayer,
It is too late for we lost her golden locks,
Once they were in tune like a harpsichord,
Gracefully she had set them like a clock.
Her hue-a reflection of red, yellow, and orange,
Her body arched beyond our reach,
Although her friend had burnt the land,
Her warmth and beauty reflect what I speak.
Finally, we scurried throughout darkness,
We pondered for cover beneath the brush,
Together we fear the wrath of the storm,
But many times, we had sweated this much.
The trees had forgotten how to dance,
They briskly sway in the wind,
Today has left them scarred to die,
Tomorrow may leave only limbs.
Suddenly, we begin to shiver,
A chill freezes our eyes,
Throughout the thicket our bodies quiver,
It inches forward so we dare not cry.
Fog covers our eyes lest we cannot see,
It blankets our once bluest sky,
A degree perhaps colder would leave blue noses,
Some of us shake and some may die.
Why is our home in disarray?
We have dug holes and rooted without haste,
Even the birds have all scattered and gone,
We all do fear although seems like waste.
Today a blustery rain only breeds ice,
And, the wind doth crack a branch or toe,
We-the animals desire a change of heart,
Oh! We are sorry but we need her-Rainbow.
