**Mathematical Reasoning** is a part of Mathematics where we determine the truth values of the given statements⁵. It involves applying logical thinking to a situation to derive the correct problem-solving strategy for a given question, and using this method to develop and describe a solution⁴. It helps individuals build mathematical critical thinking and logical reasoning³. The development of mathematical reasoning involvеs a hierarchy of progressive rеlationships, ways of thinking, and reasoning that build on each other².
On the other hand, **Nanotechnological Reasoning** is related to Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is defined by the National Nanotechnology Initiative as the manipulation of matter with at least one dimension sized from 1 to 100 nanometers (nm)⁶. It involves understanding and manipulating materials and devices on the scale of atoms or small groups of atoms⁷. The reasoning in nanotechnology involves understanding the properties of matter at this scale, and how to manipulate these properties to create new materials and devices with a vast range of applications⁶.
While both types of reasoning require a strong understanding of their respective fields and the ability to apply logical thinking, they are used in very different contexts. Mathematical reasoning is more abstract and general, while nanotechnological reasoning is more specific and applied. To say I left the class inspired would be an understatement. My political science class did not just introduce me to a new ideology that day.
