Friends With the Bar Staff Lyrics by Dawson Gray

2024

[Verse 1]
I went and lost myself a girl, got a couple speeding tickets
And this pain in my left arm, it might kill me any minute
And I drank myself outta the good times into the bad
One more hangover, I'll clean up my act
[Chorus]
If I could just get sober, get some routine
If I could get my shit together, lay off the nicotine
Maybe she'd come back, cut me some slack
But until then, until then, until then
I'm best friends with the bar staff, yeah
I'm best friends with the bar staff, oh
[Verse 2]
All my credit cards are maxed, playng pool to win it back
Scratch on the eight ball, double nothing, 'nother rack
Three sheets up in the wind, I'm thinking
Just one more night, get me higher than the ceiling
[Chorus]
If I just get sober, get some routine
If I could get my shit together, lay off the nicotine
Maybe she'd come back, cut me some slack
But until then, until then, until then
I'm best friends with the bar staff, yeah
I'm best friends with the bar staff, oh
[Bridge]
Any given night, show up to pour away my feelings
Got certified PhD's in bartop healing
Ain't judging this book by its cover
When I need another, when I still say I love her
[Chorus]
If I just get sober, get some routine
If I can get my shit together, lay off the nicotine
Maybe she'd come back, cut me some slack
But until then, until then, until then
I'm best friends with the bar staff, yeah
Just get sober, get some routine
If I could get my shit together, lay off the nicotine
Maybe she'd come back, cut me some slack
But until then, until then, until then
I'm best friends with the bar staff, yeah
I'm best friends with the bar staff, oh
[Outro]
Katie on Friday nights (Yeah)
I like to stick around a little extra longer when she's working
Hey, can I come in to pay this one tomorrow? I'm running a little short tonight
I'm best friends with the bar staff
