August 15th Lyrics by Dee XCLSV

G-Park Genius

2020

[Verse 1]
Last week I took a trip and headed back to the hood
Just to meet up with the fam, make sure everything good
Dead soul in my brother's eyes, had a conversation
Tryna give him all the motivation I could, being broke caught him by surprise
He say he graduated varsity but he still back in the hood
His mama got his fuckin' graduate degree on the wall
He gotta get a job and forget about going on tour
No time for plan B, your little daughter gotta eat
You gave up on your dreams tryna get a salary
Got my body locked down but my mind still free
And my palms still itchin' like I got an allergy
Damn, I'm tryna tell him it get better with time
But as he kept going, shit bro, tears to my eyes
I mean, I'm tryna tell him it get better with time
But as he kept going, shit bro, it started to my eyes
I'm on a mission
[Verse 2]
Tryna balance my gratitude with my hunger for more
'Cause I was cut from a different cloth and the verse is couture
It would probably break your heart If you see what I saw
No point in crying if the milk already on the floor
No point in crying
When I really got the weight of the world on my shoulders
Really wish that mama didn't have to get any older
Wish my little sister would've went to school when I told her
'Cause now exams are coming up and it's just stressful October
Circumstances never let me free
Trees open up my third eye, let me see
Mama knows that I'm a star, you gotta let me be
I'm still tryna make an M from an MP3
That's real shit, yeah
