Old Granuille, she rose in the morning quite soon
She put on her petticoat, apron and gown
Saying, "Very bad news last night came to me
They are wronging my children that's over the sea."
Old Granuille set out in her galley, enraged
And, straightway for Dublin, it was her first stage
As she was a-prancing up Dublin Street
And she, with Lord Cornwall, had chance for to meet
He says "Noble Granuille come tell me in haste
Have you any good news from the west to the east?"
"I’vе only bad news that makes me complain
Thеy're wronging my children that's over the main."
"The news it is true, then," the old Cornwall, he said
"They’ll bring 'em to slavery, soon, I'm afraid
There's North, Miss Granuille, an infamous (?)
That's brought in the Tea Act, that's now in dispute."
"You are the three billions, as I understand
Who are wronging my children in yon' foreign land
And it is reported, and told as a fact
You are the three billions that made the Tea Act."
"You were wrongly informed," said the three gentlemen
"To yield to your slavery, we never intend."
"That land is King George's and we solemnly say
That we will make laws that your sons must obey."
"You are three ardent liars," said Granuille in haste
"And t’is very well known from the west to the east
My children have ventured through storms and through floods
And have purchased that land with the price of their blood."
They said "Noble Granuille, don’t give such advent
We'll soon cool your courage and make them repent
Our great ships of war and our men on the field;
We’ll cool your sons' courage and make them all yield."
"I would not have you think you can frighten my sons;
At Lexington battle, they made your men run
They are men of experience in every degree
And we'll sink your proud ships with the helm in the lee."
Then says noble Granuille, "Give me leave to tell
Of the battle what's fought at high Bunker Hill
That twelve hundred Britons now dead in their tombs;
And five hundred more, since, have died of their wounds."
"Old Granuille, don’t tell us about Bunker Hill
For in that great battle, t'was we gained the field
You once had brave Warren, but now he is slain
You have no more Warren now over the main."
"Well, well," said Granuille, "Th' old Warren is dead
But Washington lives and our armies he'll head
We'll handle your troops, as polite as ye' please
And pay them for their troubles for crossing the seas."
"We cannot deny that your Washington's brave
But then, only think of the armies we have
We'll send over Bixby, old Darby and Graves
Your sons will submit or we'll make them all slaves."
"Well, well," said old Granuille, "Go on with your cause
My liberty sons won't submit to your laws
And when they all beat you and drive your troops home
My sons will be free to make laws of their own."
"Too late, you will see, your desperate crime
And mourn and lament to the end of your time;
That ever you sent your troops over the flood
To spill my dear innocent children's blood
I've millions of sons in America born
To yield to your slavery, they hold it in scorn
They are men of experience and they'll never fail
