I, the Devourer Lyrics by Disembodied Tyrant & Synestia

The Poetic Edda

2023

[Verse 1]
Born of blood, O god of chaos
My mother of monsters, she who bodes anguish
A damning prophecy woven by the hands of fate
This beast will bring ruination
The sun to be devoured, the kings of gods to fall
False idols will reap with their kin
The gods will understand true pain
But for now, deceit descends
As god-forged chains constrain my limbs
The end is nigh, watch all your gods run and hide
[Verse 2]
Cold steel is gagging me, fate has abandoned me
Chained to this rock, but I will not rot
Breaker of chains that the gods disdain
Look what they've done, look what they've done
Sneaking, conniving, fat, traitorous fucks
Will snap in my jaw as I go to gnaw
Desolate homes and hollow bones
Where is your throne, lord?
(Oathbreaker, chainbreaker)
Begin your hunt
(Begin your hunt)
[Verse 3]
A true beast of dread shall rise
From these feeble restraints; forsaken, betrayed
The sun to be devoured, the kings of gods to fall
They will be in my thrall, unbreakable chains
As god-forged shackles constrain my limbs
As times before this time again
Lay waste, these chains
To gods' disdain, their kind will be slain
The great devourer
[Bridge]
Watch them suffer
I shall feast on the all-father of lies
Death by teeth, watch the fire grow
[Breakdown]
The howling terror of the Ragnarök
I am unleashed
Great devourer
Swallow the sun and become unbound
The end; free your mind of I, chainbreaker
Now is the time, a perfect death
Lie through your teeth, die
Gut and maim
