Dear Tupac Shakur: A Letter from the Heart Lyrics by DON SANTO

2023

WRITER'S NOTES:
As a poet and admirer of Tupac Shakur, I wanted to express my deep appreciation for the man and his music. Tupac was not just a rapper; he was a poet, a visionary, and a voice for the voiceless. This poem is a reflection of the emotions many of us feel when we think about Tupac's life and work. It celebrates his ability to address social issues through music, inspire change, and connect with audiences across generations
THE POEM
Dear Tupac Shakur, I'm writing you a letter
Your rhymes and wisdom, they couldn't get much better
You had the West Coast blazing, your words were like fire
A lyrical genius, your legacy will never tire
You spoke about struggles, the pain, and the strife
You rapped about the thug life, the real street life
Your verses were a mirror to the world's harsh reality
And your honesty and passion were a rare form of artistry
Oh Tupac, your music lives on, it's timeless and true
We still feel your presence, we're still missing you
You were a poet, a prophet, a voice for the oppressed
In the world of hip-hop, you were simply the best
You questioned the system, you challenged the norm
You made us all think, you weathered the storm
Your words were a weapon, a powerful tool
To inspire the masses, to make the world cool
You had a vision of unity, of ending the hate
Your music was a message, it wasn't too late
To change our ways, to find a better day
To rise above the struggles, in a meaningful way
Oh Tupac, your music lives on, it's timeless and true
We still feel your presence, we're still missing you
You were a poet, a prophet, a voice for the oppressed
In the world of hip-hop, you were simply the best
Though you left us too soon, your spirit's still here
In every beat, in every rhyme, in every fan's cheer
You're an icon, a legend, an eternal rap star
Dear Tupac Shakur, you've traveled so far
So here's to you, Tupac, with love and respect
Your legacy's alive, there's no need to neglect
Your music's a time machine, it takes us back when
We first heard your lyrics, and we were young men
We'll keep bumping your tracks, in our cars and our homes
Your spirit lives on through your powerful poems
Dear Tupac Shakur, in our hearts, you'll stay
Forever and always, your music's here to play
Oh Tupac, your music lives on, it's timeless and true
We still feel your presence, we're still missing you
You were a poet, a prophet, a voice for the oppressed
In the world of hip-hop, you were simply the best
Rest in peace, Tupac, your work is done
But your influence and impact will never be gone
You're a legend, an inspiration, a shining star
Dear Tupac Shakur, you've traveled so far
