I Wish I Had An Elephant Lyrics by Don Spencer

Wonderful World of Pets

2009

I wish I had an elephant that I could call my own
I wish I had an elephant to live with me at home
My mother said I can't have an elephant, it's really much too large
I said to mum, let's sell the car, it can live in the garage
Mum said no, I don't think so
Why don't we get a pussycat?
I said no, I don't think so
I want an elephant, that's that
I wish I had an elephant, that's the pet for me
I wish I had an elephant, I'd be happy as can be
My father says it's far too big, it will eat us out of home
I said to dad, let's go to the bank and ask them for a loan
My dad said no, I don't think so
Why don't we get a cockatoo?
I said no, I don't think so
Only an elephant will do
I wish I had an еlephant, I'd give it love and carе
I wish I had an elephant, I'd ride it everywhere
My mother says I can't have an elephant, what would the neighbors say?
I said to mum, if they complain, they can always move away
My mum said no, I don't think so
Why don't we get you a giraffe?
I said no, I don't think so
Then we began to laugh
I always knew I can't have an elephant, there's nothing mum can do
But I wish I had an elephant, and sometimes dreams come true
