The Journey to the Top Floor Lyrics by Dougie DL

0

Intro:
I swear I do it for the people
I swear I do it for the people
I swear I do it for the mothers and the brothers and all the fucking others
Verse 1:
But right now as I cry under the covers
It's my future that hovers
Over my body lying in desperation
I'm facing absolute devastation
While writing songs to make others feel better about their wrongs
I forgot to pay attention to myself
I became so selfless that I lost myself
And now I have to pick up all the pieces
My life is a puzzle that I put together
But soon tore apart
It's like I was hit with a single dart
And exploded like Japan
I was told that I gotta be a man
Because I got so many people who are my Stan
But I'm sorry to my fan
Sometimes I gotta depart from the plan
Chorus:
The world ain't perfect
And neither am I
Some people think that I fly
But I ain't even in the sky
I am down on ground floor
And am searching for the door
To get me to the top
To get me to the top floor
Bridge:
And you say I am perfect
Oh say I am perfect
Well I'll let you step in my shoe
And let's see how you do
Verse 2:
I am Edger Alan Poe
That poet whom you all know
My life's a river that doesn't flow
A plant that doesn't grow
Once I start to ascend
I descend
And I have no way to defend
I'm wandering towards the deep end
And i can longer pretend
That my life is going great
And I Ain't having no trouble going on a date
Because affluence is my fate
I mean who doesn't want a famous rapper
I mean he's everything a girl wants
But it's the name that taunts
Cause I got nothing that a girl wants
Chorus:
The world ain't perfect
And neither am I
Some people think that I fly
But I ain't even in the sky
I am down on ground floor
And am searching for the door
To get me to the top
To get me to the top floor
Bridge:
I thank everyone for hanging with me through all these years
You guys always bring me to tears
Losing you is what I fear
But no matter what you'll always be my dear
Verse 3:
This moment I'll never forget
Being at the top
And the drop
More heavy than a base drop
But I'll always hang in there
That is what I swear
I will be an everlasting presence
Like your favorite Christmas presents
I am rocky in the ring
I am the Red Sox in the spring
And everyday I sing
Cause My life's like a swing
Chorus:
The world ain't perfect
And neither am I
Some people think that I fly
But I ain't even in the sky
I am down on ground floor
And am searching for the door
To get me to the top
To get me to the top floor
