Love Was the Excuse (Demo) Lyrics by Dre Scot

Black Denim

2018

[Chorus]
Love was the excuse for us
When we both know that it was not enough
To camouflage what we’ve become
Love it’s just another word
Rarely meant but it is always heard
Don’t make it seem like we were the first to be in
[Verse 1]
Love, Never knew what it meant to me
Nothing more than a figure a speech
A higher ground we could never reach
And this thing you call "us"
Escalated and it moved too fast
A shooting starlight doesn't ever last
Never shines but only a flash
[Chorus]
Love was the excuse for us
When we both know that it was not enough
To camouflage what we’ve become
Love it’s just another word
Rarely meant but it is always heard
Don’t make it seem like we were the first to be in
[Verse 2]
Love, the game I’d rather play alone
To find emotion that is felt not shown
That same sensation that we never known
So you see father time was never really on our side
Yes in the moment love will surely thrive
But when the moment's gone you realize
You realize that
[Chorus]
Love was the excuse for us
When we both know that it was not enough
To camouflage what we’ve become
Love it’s just another word
Rarely meant but it is always heard
Don’t make it seem like we were the first to be in
[Bridge]
Dead bouquets, memories fade away
Butterflies lose their wings
I hear no more strings
[Chorus]
Love was the excuse for us
When we both know that it was not enough
To camouflage what we’ve become
Love it’s just another word
Rarely meant but it is always heard
Don’t make it seem like we were the first to be in
Love
