Exception To The Rule Lyrics by Dread Fury

Devil’s Advocate or Heaven’s Prophet

2024

[Spoken]
I see it coming
I see it coming a mile off
[Verse 1]
He was a brother from the streets
He was young, big, strong but he was smart
He changed his life for the better
Might look intimidating but he had a big heart
The girls all eyed him up like a piece of meat
Gossiping about him from head to his feet
Got a chance to make it beyond space
But it all blew up back in his face
[Pre-Chorus]
Should’ve been stereotyped (Exception to the rule)
Stopped and searched for fun (Exception to the rule)
Passengеrs won’t sit next to him (Exception to the rulе)
But he still doesn’t see
[Chorus]
The world is an unforgiving place
And opportunities continue to go to waste
And when we realize how lucky we are
We will go far
[Verse 2]
She was a pretty girl of mixed background
Was smart but liked to play naive
Thought she was the life and soul of any party
Could steal your heart, she was a love thief
Any guy she wanted, she could get just like that
She loved the attention but could turn you down flat
Had you in her sights until something better came along
Turns out she got that one really wrong
[Pre-Chorus]
Pretty but no common sense (Exception to the rule)
Any guy shows she’s there (Exception to the rule)
Her reputation precedes her (Exception to the rule)
And, still, she doesn’t see
[Chorus]
The world is an unforgiving place
And opportunities continue to go to waste
And when we realize how lucky we are
We will go far
[Pre-Chorus]
And I see it coming a mile off
They ask for help when they feel lost
But when you push those closest to you away for your own gain
Who are you going to turn to?
Say it again
[Chorus]
The world is an unforgiving place
And opportunities continue to go to waste
And when we realize how lucky we are
We will go far
The world is an unforgiving place
And opportunities continue to go to waste
And when we realize how lucky we are
We will go far
Yeah, we’re gonna get there
