And make this land full of equality

We transformed from free to slavery due to the slave quota
While we were under the jurisdiction of Doc Emerson
We became slaves in a free state from the word of a US veteran
My independence sure means a lot to me
So I tried to sue him and send ‘em to the penitentiary
“But they told me that Times now are not as they were
When the former decisions on this subject were made”, but I set to deter
But I got shot down in Missouri State Court
Even with some nationwide abolitionist support
After one more attempt at it
My owner kicked the bucket
So I went after the product of his consort
And our trial got pushed to the Federal Court
However the judge relied on Missouri Law
And Sanford won suit and exclaimed with a nice “Hurrah!”
But in my eyes this was not the last straw
‘Cuz I’m appealing, without any sense of withdraw
Our case went to the Supreme
And the media’s coverage went to the extreme
And my case was prepared to perfection
But it was during the year of Presidential re-election
And even though I lived in a free state
It was overlooked due to Presidential Bait
Your precious Supreme Court was caught up in Buchanan's persuasion
And my life remained under control of a caucasian
Dred Scott v. Sanford
Goes down as one of the worst Supreme Court answers
‘Cuz “no rights which the white man was bound to respect”
This whole country’s civil rights need to be checked
And as we continue
With this flowing lyrical interview
