Golden Mountain Lyrics by Emily Afton

Archetype

2016

I feel the sun on my face
Never the wind
I was born on a golden mountain
And I don’t know why I was dealt this fate
Never had to ask
Being from this golden mountain
I look at the sky and I wonder, wonder where
Someone decides how we end up, how it’s fair
In a past life did I bleed?
In a past life did I kill?
In this life will I lead?
In this life will, oh will, oh will I
We’re getting stoned in the backyard
We’re getting stoned in America
We’re getting stoned in the backyard
We’re getting stoned
I feel the water
Drip down my skin
Down into the drain, yeah it feels like an endless fountain
And it doesn’t matter
If you feel pain
If you’re from the other side of the golden mountain
I look at the sky and I wonder, wonder where
Someone decides how we end up, how it’s fair
In a past life did I bleed?
In a past life did I kill?
In this life will I lead?
In this life will, oh will, oh will I
We’re getting stoned in the backyard
We’re getting stoned in America
We’re getting stoned in the backyard
We’re getting stoned
There’s a war going on outside
That only some of us are safe from
We’ve been asleep for all our lives
‘Cause we’re protected by the system
And Oh I don’t
See how we can be fine
This altruism is a lie
No one’s protected from this system
