12 Rounds Lyrics by Escape from the ZOO

Countin’ Cards

2021

[Verse 1]
As a kid so accustomed to hate and destruction
To wandering numb through a selfish haze
Puttin' family after fun, always looking out for number one
I carry close that shame 'cause
Now that the fogs rolled out I see how
Deeply flawed I used to be
And I am by no stretch perfect now but
At least I posses the tools to…
[Pre-Chorus]
Take a step back, gain some perspective
Know where your head's at, take a deep breath
Just think things through, take a second to relax
Rarely does logic outweigh emotions so
Dammit, try to keep a levеl head, but still some days…
[Chorus]
I feel like smashing this guitar
Going 12 rounds with a brick wall
I wanna see my knucklеs bleed
I wanna fly right off the handle
Chug a fifth, shatter the bottle
But that's kind of deconstructive
And don't solve anything
[Break]
[Verse 2]
Young drunk and angry, are you seeing red?
No room for forethought, on the warpaths we tread
I'm still glad I'm coping, no outlet, no home scene
We only find solace in fraying the thread
[Pre-Chorus]
If I could talk to my younger self I'm
Not certain they'd listen but I'd try
To express how important it is
To forgive yourself
It's never too late to change, to cope
But always remember, you reap what you sow
So don't fall into the same old rhythms
Just take the advice, ask for help because someday…
[Chorus]
You'll feel like smashing this guitar
Going 12 rounds with a brick wall
You'll wanna see them knuckles bleed
You'll wanna fly right off the handle
Chug a fifth, shatter the bottle
But that's kind of deconstructive
And don't solve any-
Don't solve anything
