New Girl Lyrics by Ethan Cook

Closure

2020

[Chorus]
I got to find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
I got to find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
[Verse 1]
Didn’t know what to do when she was mad at me
I was scared to be the man that I had to be
My insecurities rose to the surface, imperfect personal conflicts, without real consequences
I’d cheat death if I could find some answers
I’d rather be alone than miserable at your hands but
You weren’t bad to me, I wasn’t sad to be, around you, part of you, or part of this catastrophe
You got it wrong
Now I’m alone
Six seasons gone
Where do I go
I’m on the couch with a bowl in my hands
Popcorn and a cancelled plan
Youre nowhere to be found
And my TV makes now sound so
[Chorus]
I gotta find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
I gotta find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
[Interlude]
"I’m lying to myself to thinking this is the answer but
I don’t know what else to do"
[Verse 2]
It was obvious
With the quench of our flame things changed, you weren’t the same
We were playing games took pills just to rearrange the facts of our demise, I’ve been paralyzed in my heart
This isn’t just for you and me
Causing our failing chemistry burned the limbs of the trees
Past and future in agony
I think I’m losing a family
I drive you by
I might say hi but
It’s far too soon
To touch the wound
How could I not see this coming
All the signs were pointed there
Haven’t touched your fading memories
Cause I struggle just to care
[Chorus]
I gotta find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
I gotta find a new girl
So I can finish New Girl
[Outro]
"The hardest part is I don’t know what I’m doing anymore
I can’t pretend I haven’t been counting the days since you left
The days since we first met, the days since we first kissed
I’m ready to start counting for something else"
