Alexandria Lyrics by Evanthia Reboutsika

The Star and the Wish

1998

Turning my face to Alexandrian skies
As ever lasting as a diamond for lovers
And as I look into the mirror of the sea
Oh yia salam, it's truly heaven for me
Oh yia salam, how should I
I don't know
How sweetly this autumn would flow
This autumn sky so sweet
This autumn sky's unique
Could only ever be
In Alexandria
There are boats that sail to the western sky
To the east my many ships will fly
I have birds that soar through the northern way
With my eyes they guard the southern day
Oh, skies so bright
Skies so blue
Skies so clear
In Alexandria through all of her years
And with the waves breaking hard on Kait bay
Padam padam, Hey yia salam, love says
Yia salam means that I have so loved so well
Now my spirit flies in its song to tell
Passion's rest forgiven
I need no more
Yia salam means Alexandria
Turning my face to Alexandrian skies
As ever lasting as a diamond for lovers
And as I look into the mirror of the sea
Oh yia salam, it's truly heaven before me
