New Regime (ft. Pseudo Kendrick L.) Lyrics by Farouq

The Appetizer

2019

[Verse 1]
Sundown like it would never rise again the night begins
I ride cement on autopilot guided by the pen
My mend it bends and follows trends similar to inner city crime rate
My mindstate is active in the time of day when the light fades
My eyes dilate have to adjust to black
And then I notice I don’t know exactly where I’m at
The hope is that I make it back to home this ain’t the Iliad
This the pursuit of the poet like pac
I look around and see musicians who cope with the rock
Movin closer to rope in a knot
I use the music to induce a new motion of thought
Until I notice in the distant block
It was a door with golden hinges locked
Said do not open so my interest dropped
I inch it closer till my vision spots
Six letters spell out hip hop so I hit a couple big knocks
I guess no ones home
This was my chance I couldn’t drift off so I opt to pick locks
And then it opens slow
I had dreams that I would see mt Olympus
But this is different
I feel like icarus
I can’t believe what I’ve come to witness
Just a bunch of midgets with toy guns and stitches
On they back where the strings are attached
Getting cleaned of the cash
That they bring with they raps
From the fiends gettin fat
Off the memes and the blacks
Feed em lean and the xans
So they sing in a trance
Industries full of rats
That use greed as a trap
In the streets where the chance
To succeed isn’t half
And they leech of the African need to advance
Monkey see monkey dance
Is a scheme I can’t stand
[Bridge]
And so I start to speak
What if everyone in the world got a piece (hmmm)
This ain’t a Marxist speech
I’m just here to spread peace and prosperity
And then I start to think
If no one else is gonna do it than why not me
Now my heart feels free
Share the wealth mothafucka this the new regime
[Verse 2]
Then they replied with silence
I felt their eyes on my skin
I Was defyin tyrants
That’s the price I have a dream
And they weren’t tryina buy it
Had to size up giants
It was me against Goliath
Like A.I against the league
And they weren’t with it saw their fingers got to twitchin as they sent their lil midgets I was on my Chris Bridges
I said move bitches best get out the way
The new nigga this my house now like Obama 08’
Woah wait lil nigga whatchya talkin about
Cornrow K is the name and I’m on top with the crown
With Cole J he ain’t here because he’s crossin em out
The whole game ain’t this small you best be watching yo mouth
And who are you? What do you do?
You say you rap but where’s the proof?
Do you do it to influence or just somethin to do
Are you really bout the music so which one do you choose
Are you ready for the critics lil nigga
What if crickets are the only ones listenin
Do you really have ambition or just Stevie with the vision there’s no genies grantin wishes
I don’t see it in you
[Outro]
And so I had to refute
I know you’re speaking the truth
But you don’t need to approve
Mr Lamar I don’t mean to be rude
But the only thing that sets us apart
Is the places we grew
I’m not complacent listen to my rebuttal
I see your seat is for the taking that’s just me being humble
And I’m gracious for your statements wisdom like Phil the uncle
But my conscious has been aching I can’t stomach the mumble
So ima see my way out and ima keep the same route I decided
A devout to Poseidon
I just go with the flow
With my eyes to horizon
Ill be goin for broke
A poet like Edgar Allen
We was born to be poe
But like a scroll bein pulled
I’ll let the story unfold
