New Years Eve (Melbourne) Lyrics by Fury (OC)

Failed Entertainment

2019

[Spoken]
"Lend me please, my darling friends
Your ears before this year is at end
I promise you I'll be succinct
So that we can kiss and count and drink
Before this orbit is completed
And we pledge our wrongs won't be repeated
Let's in our hearts recite the names
Of those we've lost and those we've gained
And in the throes of closing portals
Rejoice in knowing we are mortals
Let's find the fears that we've collected
Reject the brutes we've seen elected
Protect those who need be protected
Accept the truths that we've neglected
For the past cannot be segregated
And as a year's last hours are celebrated
And fast flowers into dread and hope
Let's claim the next, and not just cope
And not treat life like it's a funeral
And not place blame on four mere numerals
Let's flee our ugly tendencies
And run toward love like refugees
Seeking asylum in tomorrow
In the good and bad
We'll give and borrow"
