But worsе than that was the fact that I didn’t expect it from Paul
Not at all
And I likеd him
I had nothing particularly against him
It’s just that I could say it in that moment
And for one brief moment, it felt like there was no attention on me
And I was kinda the class clown

And we really stayed out of each other’s way
From then on
For the next close to twenty years
Until by incredible coincidence
We found ourselves meeting again in New York City
Where we were both living
I was gonna give up psychology
And I was gonna become a playwright
