Samhain Lyrics by Good Question (St. Louis)

Samhain

2021

Hear me now, I don't have long
Before I go back
I'll tell you how I got to this
To taking my last breath
It started three months ago
I was chopping up lumber in the back
When I saw a white shadow drifting through the woods
And I followed her by her track
They led me to a shrine that was doused in a wine
And was poking out sticks
So I touched the leaf of a twig
In the base and it opened the door to my mind
I woke in the back with the axe in my hands
And I carried it to the hut
The last I recalled I had wandered afar
And I wasn't quite surе what I saw

'Twas but a week later that I glimpsed her again
And I ran, ran into thе woods
I saw her at the shrine
She was dousing it in wine and she turned
With a cloth over her face
She said "bring me a match and cut of your hand"
And I couldn't resist
I went to the hut, grabbed a match and the axe and the pain
Ran down my arm
For twelve more weeks I walked into those woods
'Til I only had a left hand
I was covered in blood but I wanted to know
Who she was, and why she came

"You'll burn for your crimes, you'll burn for all time
You cast a dark shadow on this land"
She said, "You must be a fool to think I am of wrong
I inherit this land!"
Then she lit the shrined and we were both tied
And we struggled as the fire burned bright
I was the first to break free
But I was frail and so was she and we
Couldn't escape from the blaze

So I killed that witch 'fore the flames engulfed us
And passed in a flash
But I siphoned the remains of my void-made self
To make sure my soul would last
My body is gone now, but I'll still be here to watch from my dreams

I'll be back again, I always am, just not on this Samhain
I'll be back again, I always am, just not on this Samhain
I'll be back again, I always am, just not on this Samhain
I'll be back again, I always am, just not on this Samhain
