White Noise Lyrics by Headcase

Lunatic Fringe: A Self Portrait

2015

[Intro]
I know you're watching, I know you hear what they're saying...
But are you LISTENING?
(Open your mind.... open your mind.... open your mind....)

[Hook](2x)
Everywhere I go, all I ever hear is white noise
On the radio and TV, all I hear is white noise
Poison carried to the people through the white noise
When the time comes, I hope you make the right choice

[Verse One]
Sometimes, the road to the truth is so illusive its confusing, and reality becomes illusion
Canibus said that back in '98, but as we traveled through time and space
We have yet to see any signs of change
We're still being played by the people we're supposed to trust
Somewhere we slipped up and let the Devil get close to us
It ain't hard to tell, the system's corrupted entirely
That's why you see his hand in every facet of society
Almost all of our basic knowledge and behavior
Is based on what we see on TV, and now its major
This generation is so dependent on the mass media
We're quick to accept the bullshit they're force feeding us
All those expensive products we covet
Don Draper knows, advertising is how you program the public
And all we do is enforce it, by thinking its important
To murder each other over the newest Air Jordan's
Same as it ever was, we obey the talking heads
We don't have to eat flesh to become The Walking Dead
Even in the past, they used media propagation
To convince us that America was always a honest nation
We fall for politicians giving speeches with pathos
I'm not above you though, I used to be in the same boat
But I realized the white noise was dulling my senses
Now I'm Roddy Piper looking through the Hoffman Lenses

[Chorus 2X]

[Verse Two]
Some of you might laugh when you hear this
But I'm far from a tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorist
Nowadays Illuminati is a popular topic
But none of these listeners actually used the obvious logic
The law, as it stands, exists to protect the elite
To reinforce the wealthy and powerful, the rest is beneath
Illuminati ain't fake, right?
Then why would they need a secret society when they operate in plain sight?
These corporations do their dirt in the open
And only when you threaten their profits are you worth their emotion
I salute Ed Snowden, the man is a true patriot
He exposed the system, so stop placing your faith in it
Project Paperclip to MK Ultra, nothing has changed
Like putting drugs in our veins, the media has ruptured our brains
You wanna tell me that I'm crazy though?
Can't you hear the subliminal racism from rap radio?
It's nothing but negative stereotypes of black people
So you'll believe they're all drug dealers who act lethal
But they say its only entertainment, ain't it embarrassing?
They don't report the news anymore, they write narratives
And now they're passing laws against net neutrality
In the end, they're gonna take away your individuality
But you're stuck on fallacies, bob your head to the rhythm
Of these rappers staying relevant with occult symbolism
This subject has been covered by a few of my brothers
Like Supastiton and the 1100 Hunters
They tried to warn against these weapons of mass distraction
The Jones' telling us what trends are back in fashion
Fuck your riches, it's the truth that I've sought
I've been biting my tongue for so long they put me on suicide watch
Here's my advice before I pick up the hook:
Turn the TV and radio off, and pick up a book!

[Hook](2x)

[Outro]
"The bottom line is that the government is getting what they have ordered. They're getting what they have paid for. They do not want your children to be educated. They do not want you to think too much. That is why our country and our world has become so proliferated with entertainments, mass media, game shows, television shows, amusement parks, drugs, alcohol, and every kind of entertainment to keep the human mind entertained so that you don't get in the way of important people by doing too much thinking. You better wake up and understand that there are people who are guiding your life and you don't even know it."
