Wanted more for them than I ever did for me
He was gonna go to school, he was gonna be someone
But instead of toting books, now he just totes a gun
And all his letters say that he wants to be back home
He's in Afghanistan but he don't know what for
His friend committed suicide, it's creepin' in his head
And every day it seems someone else's son is dead
So he laid his gun down and he said "I won't fight"
They threw him in jail, but he slept well at night
Wrote his mother what he did, said "Mom, I'm comin' home
Your son is not a soldier, I don't wanna die alone"
