[Intro: Call Me Ace]
It’s real easy to look at my life and
Assume my steps was easy
Like I just hopped and skipped over here or something
But a lot of people don’t see the
Prayers, the support, the motivation, the…
The pain, the tears
The blood—literally—just to get here, you know?
So when I look at my life, I’m like…
[Verse 1: Call Me Ace]
Yea
Celebrate, yea I gotta celebrate (woop!)
Really felt like yesterday
Couldn’t grab a second plate (nah)
Ever since the second grade I knew I had to entertain
I wish these bills had said the same (unh)
I remember them days
Went from abject poverty to minimum wage
My first salary was trash but ay I really get paid (hah)
Now I sell music to people who don’t live in the states (woop!)
Airplane mode to see ‘em that’s how I’m feelin’ today, heyy
Elevate, surf the clouds, getaway (yea)
I ain’t talkin’ mentally, talkin’ crepes and crème brûlée (yea)
Talkin’ tell me set a day, shoot I’ll take off any day
I’ll leave all this work behind, I’m a boss, delegate, heyy
They speculate ‘cause they tryna emulate
No matter how they step with me
There really ain’t no catchin’ me
Because I move so restlessly
Really need a seventh day
So when I fall I lift up praise unh
They don’t hear me tho
[Chorus: Call Me Ace]
Celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (yea)
Meditate (wow) thank God and celebrate (so we)
Celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (that’s right)
We still here three cheers celebrate, ay!
Celebrate (woop!) thank God and celebrate (yea yea)
Meditate (woop!) thank God and celebrate (so we)
We celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (yea yea)
We still here three cheers celebrate, ay!
[Bridge: Ian Kelly]
Take any ounce of hope you have and you add to it
You maintain by shooting for the stars that they told us we’d never reach
To each his own but I never saw failure as the final outcome
But more as a reality that the best is yet to come
[Verse 2: Ian Kelly]
Soon as I get off work, I’m racin’ to write a verse
They told me secure the bag, my homie just stole a purse
Are we demons disguised as angels or visa versa?
All of my failures provide a purpose I let ‘em surface
I was channel surfin’, my waves larger than most
All of my bills on the first, bunch of my exes gon’ lurk
Hopin’ I lay in the dirt
My partner’s funeral kinda hurt to see him in the hearse
Tears hit the ground and they burst
Yes lord, I know, what don’t kill me help grow
I’m headed to the show
Shut it down, kill ‘em all, give ‘em life, do it both
Man I’m such a contradiction and depictions they be written
They ain’t slippin’ just rippin’
My mentality is different (I’m made for this)
That’s the reason I’m still livin’ (I changed for this)
Man in the mirror looked at me (like you prayed for this)
It’s time to show the world you could’ve died
(You stayed for this)
Yea
[Chorus: Call Me Ace]
Celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (yea)
Meditate (wow) thank God and celebrate (so we)
Celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (that’s right)
We still here three cheers celebrate, ay!
Celebrate (woop!) thank God and celebrate (yea yea)
Meditate (woop!) thank God and celebrate (so we)
We celebrate (yea) thank God and celebrate (yea yea)
We still here three cheers celebrate, ay!
