But when the evening glow
The sky was hidden by some clouds
And the rain was pouring down
And exposed dirt on every road
And I went out in the dawn
Found my footsteps on the lawn
But my little friend beside my picket fence
He was gone
I was filled with many kinds of thoughts
And grateful in my heart
And I thanked the Lord for giving me
This great rewarding part
Like the one I just experienced
While wondering around I found
Someone who could show me
The color of the sun
Later on I sat at home
And the day was almost gone
And I knew that deep inside
I missed that color of the sun
