Best Kept Secret Lyrics by Ivory Layne

Ambitchin’

2022

Best Kept Secret
(Sales associates to Aisle 3. Sales associate to Aisle 3.)
(If you have your shoppers card, scan it now.)
I’m stuck in the grocery line and I’m fine
Rocking my sweatshirt, buying cheap wine
Nobody’s gonna bat an eye about me, I’m a nobody
I can make-up or break-up or make-out
With someone, no one’s gonna write about it
It’s kinda funny how it’s so easy to please a nobody
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
Sometimes you really gotta laugh
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
When they say “Why’re not famous yet?”
I’m the best kept secret
The best kept secret
Don’t forget, don’t forget
The worlds been sleeping on me
The worlds been sleeping
On me, yeah, on me, yeah
I know someday I’ll be in the limelight
But until then I’ll be the best kept secret
The best kept secret, don’t forget, don’t forget
Sure, I’m kind of mad that I’m not “cool”
I got a part time after school
I’m out of paying dues ‘cause we still gotta eat
Even nobodies
When I think about it, yeah, some
Special kind of freedom da-da-dum
They say power is responsibility
But no one’s talking ‘bout the power in some anonymity
Aha-ha-ha-ha-ha
You know you really gotta laugh
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
When they say “I never heard of you”
Well, not yet
I’m the best kept secret
The best kept secret
Don’t forget, don’t forget
The worlds been sleeping on me
The worlds been sleeping
On me, yeah, on me, yeah
I know someday I’ll be in the limelight
But until then I’ll be the best kept secret
The best kept secret, don’t forget, don’t forget
When’s it gonna be my turn?
When’s it gonna be my turn?
When’s it gonna be my, when’s it gonna be my turn?
I’m the best kept secret
The best kept secret
Don’t forget, don’t forget
The worlds been sleeping on me
The worlds been sleeping
On me, yeah, on me, yeah
I know someday I’ll be in the limelight
But until then I’ll be the best kept secret
The best kept secret, don’t forget, don’t forget
(Yeah, it’s kinda getting old, y’know?)
(Doing this for so long.)
(And sometimes, you just gotta be grateful.)
(I’m looking for the silver lining.)
(I ain’t never got the gold.)
(And I have to laugh, ha-ha-ha-ha-ha)
