Tyler heard a lock at the door. He thought it was his dad who may have forgotten or been to drunk to remember where the spare key was. But, when he opened it he saw Ev. She was just standing there in his doorway in the pouring rain, and all though it was pouring, Tyler could still se her tears. They both could tell that the other had no idea what to say so they just stared at each other for a while; tears slowly dripping down their face. I’m tired, Ev finally said, I’m so so fucking sick and tired of this, all of it. She kept crying harder and harder, I’m tired of my family, I’m tired of my life, I’m tired of myself, I’m tired of this town, I’m tired of this whole god damn world. They stood there in silence for another moment, and Ev wiped off most of her tears. I wish I could escape, I wish I could finally escape. I wish you wanted to come with me. This has to end, it’s gotta get better, it will get better... right? Please tell me it’ll get better. Please tell me I have the courage to spread my wings and fly so far from here no one could ever find me. They stood there for another few seconds of silence. I do too, Tyler replied. They hugged each other, and the emotional embrace of that hug made them feel warm and safe, which is something neither of them have felt in a very long time. They let go after about ten seconds, and Ev started to walk away. Hey Tyler, she said, I love you too. And she slowly fell walked away through the empty streets. And as she walked back to her house, her and Tyler both knew she was walking away from her home.
