Note To Myself Lyrics by Jovan

2017

[INTRO: JOVAN]
It's just a note to myself. It's just a note to myself...
A reminder of who I am, what I be, what I see
Who I'm supposed to be
You know who you are, don't forget that
Love you

[VERSE: JOVAN]
Just listen to your intuition…
Because your own damn mind can be your only competition
Listen, listen, listen to what holds inside
Not these opinions of these other minds
I ain’t gonna lie, I’m guilty, caught up in their words
It is the death of me, not blessing me, yeah, life’s a blur
I wonder if its a reflection, on how they see themselves
Why can’t I take it lightly? Detrimental to my health, my health
You find out who they are when they mad
Potentially they lacking, envious on what you have
On what you posses, how they define success
How they define whats real, what’s passion, what is more & less
I must confess, they must of fell off & just forgot who I was
Because when I am taking shots, I’m always aiming above
I ain't got something to prove, I just got nothing to lose
And I deserve to be heard, that’s what I acquire to choose
Then they go ahead and say I cannot celebrate me?
And even though I won the prize… It’s time to elevate me
Too many times I’ve pushed success on others, serving their hype
On these underpaid jobs, while I still have my degree?
And so, selfish doesn’t live in my bones
Everybody gets to eat, and you know I cannot do it all alone
Fame does not determine talent, and, neither do numbers
Whoever think this kind of way, should be really tucked under!
I’m humble as fuck, but it’s time, I had enough
My life has been nothing but struggle and tough love
With great people on my side, just don’t think I forgot
I’ve just been working real hard just to keep in my spot
It’s my time to shine, become a face to my name
To be proud of myself, and to never be ashamed
Even though they screwed up, on how I play the game
Because its my life, only I can take the reigns
So I’m writing to myself, just to say that I am worth it
And God put me in this place on purpose, for a purpose
You're on the right path, just keep doing ya thing
Remain being patient, and soon you’ll see
You know you are where you’re supposed to be…
You know you are where you’re supposed to be…
You know you are where you’re supposed to be…
You are
