10 Years Lyrics by JS aka The Best

Renaissance Man

2016

2006 Verse 1
Lets Start off in the Summer of 06
Buck wild, and I got caught up in the mix
I knew shoulda never went to that party
Welcome to The Concrete Jungle in the safari
So much tension in the room, then things got ugly
Everybody got bloody, but I guess I got lucky
I was the only one that made it out
Puff told it was No Way Out but I gotta found another route
Hunger in the game, can you feel my hunger pain
Ima get it im independent like my main man Dame
I had to stay on the right path and stay away from the fools
Cause I Got into a new school with new rules
Todays the day, I got a hour to make it to registration
Walked into the guidance office and got all of the information
Sat down and looked up and I got stuck in a gaze
Saw the type of girl you take home to meet your family on a Sunday
CHORUS
It took 10 years to be a overnight success
Took me 10 years to realize im the best
Let's see what happens in the next 10
Jerome is on the track and the pen now let the story begin
2016 Verse 2
Now here we are in 2016
Who woulda thought, I Never woulda thought, that i would make it past 16
I made it to be 6 feet tall, thank god im not 6 feet under
I'm the only one that done made it outta the gutta
I done Seen so many people lose it all so fast
Didn't know how to play the position, now they always being typed cast
Bamas told me that I would never ever be nothin
We all know now, that I done turned nothing into something
Now im on 3 of the highest rated shows, with 15 millions viewers
What ima do next, only God knows the future
Right now ima carry the flag, and put it on my back
I told Flexx sit back, I got this, ima lead the pack
I'ma have us all somewhere chillin on a island
Somethings I can control, but the rest is God's timing
Ready for the alley oop, just throw me the pass
They say nice guys finish last, but you gotta save the best for last
CHORUS
It took 10 years to be a overnight success
Took me 10 years to realize im the best
Let's see what happens in the next 10
Jerome is on the track and the pen now let the story begin
2026 Verse 3
2026 and everything is so different
In the best way, with my wifey for lifey
She was my friend first, before we took it to another level
Took The Scenic Route, I ain't push the pedal to the metal
When the time was right, we came together at the right time
It took us 10 years for us to get it right
My first child will be your first child
Now we got 2, everyday they make us smile
I turned out well but I want my kids to do better
Layed down the foundation, for em to be smarter than ever
Told the wifey, lets take the kids over they're grandparents house
So we can go around the world, and vacay at our getaway house
Thankful everyday my fam got me closer to God
LTD Unlimited, Living The Dream with my squad
For the record this might be the last time that you hear me on a record
I found something more important than these music and these words, I'm gone!
