“ADELAINE! WE’RE GOING TO BE LATE FOR SCHOOL!” my sister, Christina, called from downstairs. I got up and took a quick shower since I was sweaty and gross from cheer practice yesterday. I finished within 10 minutes and looked at the time, I had an hour before school started, I’m gonna kill her. I just stopped rushing and got ready, I knew that we had practice today so I brought a change of clothes to practice in. I put on a pair of ripped blue jeans, a maroon and white striped shirt. I dutch braided my hair and put on my white air forces and the “A” necklace Debbie got me. I grabbed my backpack and slowly walked down the stairs, toward Chrissy’s car. So, lеt me introduce myself. Hеllo, I’m Adelaine Marie, but people call me a lot of things like, Addy, Marie, Lanie, and some bad things too. I do have a tattoo on my right wrist of a rose, it’s small and not many people notice I have it. I’m a senior in highschool, I’m very shy and if I’m being honest can’t talk to any person other than Christina, my “sister”. She isn’t my biological sister, I mean we have no blood relation at all but when my mom got pregnant with me my dad left her. At the time Christina’s mom and my mom were best friends, they both got pregnant at the same time. They helped each other through pregnancy and were each other's rocks, learning new things about having children, together. When my mom was giving birth to me she died. I’ve lived with Debbie, Christina’s mom, Jimmy, Christina’s dad, and Christina all my life, they are my family. I love my dog, Coco, he is a German Shepard, he’s 2. He doesn’t like Chrissy or Debbie, or anyone other than me really. Christina is the head of the cheer team, meaning she is the most popular girl in school. She made me join the cheer squad, I’m one of her minions. I don’t like cheer, if I’m being honest I really wanted to be on the actual football team, not the one cheering them on from the side lines. She is a lot nicer to me than the others on the squad considering I am her sister. I also have a secret, nobody knows but me and I won’t tell you but you’ll figure it out eventually.
Chrissy and I arrived on time, not like I was late in the first place. All the cheer girls were waiting for us at the entrance. We got out of the car and headed toward them, they all grouped up behind Christina and they walked into school confidently. I was within the group of girls, beside Christina, I didn't understand why we walked like this, everyone just stared at us and I felt uncomfortable. I went to my locker, right next to Chrissy’s, when I got there her boyfriend was waiting for her. I unlocked my locker, he was staring at me and I didn’t like it. Christina came over after a minute or two and they kissed. “Hey babe, are you going to my house after the game on Friday?” Corbyn asks Chrissy as she gets out her books, she just smiled and nodded. Corbyn’s friends walked over, Jonah, Jack, and Zach. I looked up to see all of them looking at me, like they had just realized I was a person. Christina looked at them then back at me, she knew I was getting uncomfortable, “Come on Laine, let’s get to class.” she grabbed my hand and dragged me away from the group of guys. I let out a deep breath, “Thanks Chrissy!” I said, in relief. We went to Math class, which is one of the only classes we have together. I walked in and took my place in the back of the classroom by myself. The teacher started speaking, “So, today a new student joined our class,” she smiled as a boy walked into the classroom, “I want everyone to say their name and one interesting fact about themselves. Daniel you can start!” she looked at the boy, a little overly excited.
