3 days later. So today is the day I leave for Minnesota, I now understand that Daniel wanted to come with me that’s why he got two tickets. Me and my “parents” haven't spoken since I screamed at them, this trip is a good way to get away from them. I really wanted Daniel to ask me out on this trip because he hasn’t yet. Me and Jonah have formed an even closer bond since finding out we are twins. It’s been great, we go out and do fun stuff all the timе. I still see Svea all the time too, I just won’t see my “parеnts''. I got up and threw on some sweat pants and a hoodie, it was going to be a long flight and I didn’t feel like dressing up. I grabbed my suitcase and walked downstairs to see Daniel sitting there on his phone. He wasn’t that well dressed either so I wasn’t alone. As I lugged my suitcase down the stairs, Daniel stood there and kept his eyes on me. I mean he could help but he looked like he was in his own world, I looked into his eyes. His thoughts more jumbled than usual, they consisted of mostly what he wanted this trip to be like. Until, he came across a thought that sent shivers down my spine, ‘I’m gonna do it, I’m going to ask her out.’ I dropped everything that was in my hands. His eyes shot from the floor to my face quickly. I was red, he looked at me confused before running toward me. He grabbed my shoulders and shook me out of my daze, “Addy you good?” he asked, after he was done shaking the life out of me.
“Dani I’m fine, you didn’t have to make me dizzy!” I said, grabbing my forehead. He chuckled before helping me pick up my bags. We walked out to his car, while he put the stuff in the trunk I sat in the passenger's seat. The trip was long, silent and very awkward. Daniel was tense and worried, which worried me because Daniel was normally a carefree person. Nothing really bothered him, but today was different. “Hey Dani are you okay?” I asked, grabbing his arm lightly. He looked at me for a second, all I could see was the love and passion in his eyes. He looked back at the road before answering, “I’m fine. Just a lot on my mind, you know?”
I nodded, “I’m here.” I suggested, looking down at my phone. He chuckled. The vexatious feeling in the car settled, slightly. Until, we finally got to the airport. I grabbed my carry-on bag and waited, impatiently, for Daniel. Our seat happened to be right next to each other.
We went through security and stuff. When we finally sat down at our seats, I was so tired. I laid my head on Daniel’s shoulder, like I usually did when I was tired. “Hey Addy, can I talk to you about something?” he asked, shyly. I looked at him confused and nodded. He was shaking and there was sweat glistening on his forehead. I’ve never seen Daniel so nervous, I could practically hear the butterflies batting in his stomach. Everything about Daniel’s demeanor made the long, awkward silence, even worse. He stayed quiet for a few more minutes, “Um, nevermind it doesn’t matter…” he quietly stated, breaking the silence between us. I was not having this, he was clearly upset by something and I was going to find out what it was, no matter the cost.
I spent 10 long, agonizing, minutes trying to convince him to talk. I knew that my plan had failed when he turned his head to face the empty seat by the aisle. I didn’t care what he had to say, I only cared that he was upset by something. So, I did the only logical thing to do in this situation. I grabbed him by the chin, turned his head toward me and looked into the sapphires he calls eyes. I wasn’t going to read his mind, which was really hard for me because it’s nearly impossible to look at somebody and not read their mind. I’ve done it a couple of times and it worked. I pulled his face closer to, where it was only a couple inches from, mine. His muscles instantly loosened and his face calmed into a mellow sort of smile. I could tell his heart had started beating awfully fast. He opened his mouth like he was about to speak but closed it again.
“Now tell me what’s up.” I said being straightforward because he was upset and I hated it. My tone startled him a little, I guess, because he jerked slightly in his seat. He took a deep breath, clearly considering how to word his next sentence. We hit slight turbulence, making both of us jolt in our seats. He took another deep breath before speaking, “So….I, um, was wondering if……you wanted to, um, go on a date with me?” he was trying his best to look anywhere but my eyes. I looked at him in shock, I was not expecting those words to come out of his mouth. My mouth stood slightly ajar. “You don’t have to say yes, it’s fine. Um, we can just….” he said nervously, leaning back into his seat before I interrupted him. I turned his head back toward mine and placed a tender kiss on his lips before nodding my head. The tense fake smile on his face was replaced with his toothy signature one. He kissed me softly again before turning back in his seat. I placed my head on his shoulder and put his head on mine. I slowly drifted to sleep thinking about all the amazing things that would happen after the plane ride. And, in that moment I knew that no matter what happened next I would always have Daniel and my life, no matter the ups and downs, would be perfect.
