Cassius the Julius Caesar Play
Cassius is the type of character that is suspicious, and deceiving. Cassius made himself a suspicious character and Caesar did not trust him from the start. Cassius plays a big role in the play and has to maintain that way, evil and persuading throughout the play. Cassius is portrayed in two ways in the play “Julius Caesar” personal and political beliefs, and his motives for taking down Caesar.
Cassius felt as if Caesar wasn’t a good fit to be the king, he felt as if he was better. “Cassius, a man of fierce disposition and one that out of private malice, rather than love the public, hated Caesar” (quoted from document B). Cassius felt as if Caesar was a bad leader and wanted the people to see what he thought he saw in Caesar and not choose him as king. Cassius fierce and determined would do anything to get his way. “The reputation and authority of a man such as he was in addition to resolve of Cassius” (quoted from document B paragraph 2). Cassius felt that he should be king that he was more of a man than Caesar. Cassius is stubborn and too self-absorbed see that what he has done was beyond repulsive and horrible.
Cassius beliefs that a king should him ore like him strong and hard working. “When Cassius went about soliciting friends to engage in this plot against Caesar, all whom he tried readily consented.” Cassius persuaded a group of men to engage in his evil plot to take down the one good thing that had come to that city. Cassius tricked and used the men to gain power for himself. “Cassius, having considered these things, went to Brutus and asked him if he planned to present on the ides of March.” Cassius used Brutus like his personal puppet. He gave Brutus false hope and persuaded him to help him kill Caesar. Cassius is head strong and smart to get what he wants.
Cassius‘s one motive was to talk down Caesar for his own selfish needs. His personal and political belief was that he was a better man, leader, and ruler. He felt as if no one could over power him.
